2020 Teacher Conservation Workshop

June 15 @ 12:00 am - June 20 @ 5:00 pm

$50
COVID-19 NOTICE:
Due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 health crisis, the Georgia Teacher Conservation Workshop, the Georgia Forestry Commission, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, and its partnering agencies have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Georgia Teacher Conservation Workshop.

The 2020 gathering would have been the 16th annual event and we were looking forward to creating many meaningful moments for our participants, educators, staff, and volunteers. Unfortunately, to insure the safety of everyone involved, the workshop scheduled for June 15-19 will not take place.

The good news is the GA Teacher Conservation Workshop advisory committee has already begun work on the 2021 Workshop! We remain committed to providing an experience for Georgia’s educators to gain content knowledge and application in forestry, wildlife, and natural resources in Georgia. We look forward to having a full Workshop next year!

If you have questions or concerns regarding the program, please visit http://gatcw.org/ or feel free to message us on Facebook.

The Teacher Conservation Workshop (TCW) is a week-long professional development event that uses the forest as a window to environmental education. Activities are led by foresters, biologists, educators, and industry professionals. This interdisciplinary workshop focuses on the environmental, economic, and social benefits of Georgia’s forestry and wildlife communities. Sessions take place offsite and mostly outdoors in the forest and manufacturing facilities within a 2-hour radius of Charlie Elliott. Sessions demonstrate the cycle of growing trees and managing for wildlife, water and recreation.

The TCW emphasizes the importance of conservation of natural resources, with special attention given to Georgia’s wildlife, forests, forest products and water. Participants will learn hands-on practical exercises that can supplement their classroom curricula and student projects. Certification in Projects Learning Tree, WET, and WILD is awarded at the completion of the workshop.
