Mini-Grant Guidelines

  1. Awardees must be PLT certified. Those who are not certified, please contact your Georgia PLT State Coordinators or visit plt.org to learn how to earn your certification. 

  2. Only one grant proposal may be submitted per organization. 

  3. Applicants cannot have been a recipient of a GA PLT Seeding Grant in the last three years.

  4. Grants may be awarded up to $1,000, with the final award amount at the discretion of GA PLT. 

  5. Grants may be used for materials costs, outreach materials, or travel. 

  6. This grant provides up to $1,000 for educators to purchase hands-on technology that enhances STEM education, such as microscopes, STEM robots, and 3D printers. Items not eligible for funding include laptops, computers, and general-purpose electronics. The focus is on interactive devices and educational tools that directly support the project outlined in the grant proposal and student learning and engagement. 

  7. Grants may NOT be used for student scholarships, technology purchases, and/or professional development. See number six for clarification. 

  8. State of Georgia travel policies (https://sao.georgia.gov/travel/state-travel-policy) and procedures must be used for all mileage reimbursements.  These expenses must be pre-approved by GAPLT. If traveling on behalf of a school or organization, awardees must follow the travel policies and procedures of said organization. 

  9. This grant can be utilized for transportation costs, including the transportation of students to field trips or travel to off-site program locations. However, it cannot be used to cover transportation expenses related to professional development or other meetings.

  10. No grant monies are available for staff and faculty salaries, except for stipends or replacement costs for one-time projects or short-term funding. 

  11. The fiscal agent would be responsible for paying stipends from the grant funds. 

  12. Grant monies will be made available to awardees by July 1st and must be used by June 30th of the following year. No grant dollar will be carried forward and all unused funds will be reclaimed by GAPLT at the end of the grant period. 

  13. Awardees will be required to provide a written report upon completion of the grant period along with supporting documents and receipts or proof of expenditures. Failure to do so may result in the refusal of future allocations.
